🏈📺 Fubo Ditches Warner Bros. Discovery Deal: FuboTV, the sports-focused streaming service, has just pulled the plug on its content deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, citing "abuse of massive market power" and a lack of "good faith negotiations." They claim Warner Bros. insisted on offering Fubo above-market rates for its popular networks like Discovery, HGTV, and Food Network, not to mention the coveted sports content from TNT, TBS, and truTV. Fubo argued that this stance not only hiked prices for consumers but also stifled choice by bundling sports with other content, contrary to consumer interests in more tailored, cost-effective packages. Warner Bros. Discovery, for its part, says it’s still open to working things out. But with Fubo yanking their networks and whispers of legal action in the air, the industry waits to see what happens.

Hollywood's Heavyweights Form Producers United for Fairer Treatment: A coalition of 86 top-tier career producers, who collectively influence about 90% of Hollywood's major independent and studio/streamer films, has formed Producers United. Among them are the masterminds behind Oscar-winning movies and major franchises like James Bond, John Wick, and Transformers. This group is advocating for a new compensation model and health benefits, aiming to rectify longstanding inequities in the producer's role within the industry. As they prepare for critical discussions with studios and streaming services, the movement seeks to safeguard the future of film and TV production against systemic decay. This pivotal effort could reshape the landscape of Hollywood, ensuring a sustainable environment for the creative forces behind its biggest successes.

🎬🤖 FKA Twigs Champions the NO FAKES Act: Musician and actress FKA Twigs is taking a futuristic leap by developing a deepfake version of herself to manage her social media interactions. As she ventures into using AI deepfake technology to interact with her fans, Twigs is also pushing for legislation to combat the unauthorized use of digital replicas. Yesterday, Twigs took to Capitol Hill, advocating for the NO FAKES Act, which aims to protect creators by allowing them to take legal action against misuse of their digital likenesses, highlighting a critical move towards safeguarding artists' rights in the digital era. Twigs’ initiative shows the dual aspects of AI: immense potential when regulated but also a need for strict oversight to prevent abuse.

“AI cannot replicate the depth of my life journey, yet those who control it hold the power to mimic the likeness of my art, to replicate it and falsely claim my identity and intellectual property. This prospect threatens to rewrite and unravel the fabric of my very existence. We must enact regulation now to safeguard our authenticity and protect against misappropriation of our inalienable rights.”
